Research Article of the Year Award - Great international recognition for FFoQSI researchers at Campus Tulln

The Austrian K1 Competence Center for Feed and Food Quality, Safety and Innovation FFoQSI (www.ffoqsi.at), where a particularly intensive cooperation between BOKU and VetMed Vienna takes place, is already known beyond the borders of the country for its research work.

The FFoQSI researchers recently received particularly good news from the USA: Their article on the validation and evaluation of matrix effects of their globally unique method for the simultaneous determination of more than 1200 agrochemicals in food and feed was awarded the "Research Article of the Year Award 2021" by the American Chemical Society. The paper was submitted and published by the FFoQSI team led by David Steiner, Rudolf Krska and Michael Sulyok (see picture) in the American Journal of Agriculture and Food Chemistry (J. Agr. Food Chem.) 2021. This prestigious international award recognizes outstanding research in the fields of agrochemicals and food chemistry. First author David Steiner conducted this work as part of his dissertation at BOKU/IFA-Tulln as part of his employment at FFoQSI in cooperation with company partner Biomin. The award will be presented virtually to the awardees in Atlanta, Georgia in August 2021. Link:  https://axial.acs.org/2021/06/07/jafc-research-article-of-the-year-award-2021

The simultaneous determination of the different substance classes, as described in the award-winning study, may in the future provide a more holistic picture of the overall contamination pattern in the feed and food sector. In addition, this approach also provides the possibility of generating prevalence data of "contaminant cocktails" with regard to the investigation of synergistic toxic effects. The method has already been successfully applied in cooperation with FFoQSI company partner BIOMIN in the context of a feed monitoring program.

We congratulate very much!
