Excellent research and development for future food systems
We combine the expertise of renowned Austrian research institutions and international experts with the know-how of open-minded and research-oriented companies from Austria and abroad (of which approx. 60% are small and medium-sized enterprises). Through in-house development or joint use of the latest technologies, we develop innovative approaches to meet the urgent challenges of our time:
- Prevention of crop failure and spoilage in crop production
- Sustainable improvement of soil fertility
- Better understanding of the molecular and cellular mechanisms of bioactive compounds and increasing their bioavailability
- New concepts for keeping livestock populations healthy
- Strengthening aspects of sustainability and circular economy in food production
- Improving the safety, tolerability and shelf life of food products
- Increasing the crisis safety of food companies through improved contamination management
- Identifying new, sustainable processing methods and packaging for food products
- Confirming the origin and authenticity of food and feed products
- Detection and elimination of biofilms and mold contamination in food production
- High-throughput toxin analysis and non-animal toxicological assessments
Nowadays, the topic of "future-proof" nutrition not only occupies experts, but also broad sections of the public - an important issue, because the supply of high-quality food is one of the most elementary human needs and concerns us all.
